PRESS ADVISORY  March 4, 2002

Sue Payton, deputy under secretary of Defense for Advanced Systems and Concepts (ACTDs), will brief the media on the new list of advanced concept technology demonstrations for fiscal 2002.  Of the 15 new ACTDs, 11 deal with counter-terrorism capabilities.  The briefing will be Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. EST in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781.

The Department has selected Fiscal Year 2002 Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ASTD) new starts. In my November 9, 2001, letter on this subject, I made the commitment to notify the congressional defense committees of the final FY 2002 ACTD selections, and to include short summaries of each ACTD.
