Hello John and Deborah,

I work for the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit. Unfortunately we have received  a number of complaints about your website re: bomb making instructions from the Islamic State’s propaganda magazine ‘Inspire’. Could I please ask that you read the letter below and I would very much welcome your thoughts.

Thank you very much for your help, it’s really appreciated.

All the best

CTIRU.

Dear John Young and Deborah Natsios,

As part of the Counter Terrorism Command of the United Kingdom, the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) works in cooperation with industry and private sector companies globally to remove illegal online content that breaches the UK’s terrorism provisions.

Online content that is illegal under UK law may be described as material that encourages, promotes or glorifies terrorist acts or which otherwise incites or assists others to participate in such acts. The types of content most often removed usually breach Sections 57 or 58 Terrorism Act 2000 or Sections 1 or 2 Terrorism Act 2006.

The material below is being disseminated by the proscribed terrorist organisation ISIS / ISIL / The Islamic State (IS) in order to facilitate violent jihad and Lone Wolf attacks. As I am sure you are aware IS is a brutal Sunni Islamist terrorist group active in Iraq and Syria. The group adheres to a global jihadist ideology, following an extreme interpretation of Islam, which is anti-Western and promotes sectarian violence. IS aims to establish an Islamic State governed by Shari’a law in the region and to impose their rule on people using violence and extortion. Anyone who does not espouse his violent, murderous views of how to achieve an Islamic Khilafah warrants a sentence of death according to the group.

The link below [no link provided] leads to your page containing the IS propaganda magazine ‘Inspire’ which provides clear and practical information for the manufacture of a variety of explosives, which presents a clear danger to both our countries from those sympathetic or radicalised enough to the IS cause to assemble them and carry out an attack.

As a preventative measure, we would be grateful if using your ‘Terms of Use’ policy you could restrict access to this material by removal from your page.

We ask that you consider this request and please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance, we are grateful in advance for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

CTIRU (UK)
