4 October 2011 Government Email Delivery Tracks Recipients DoJ and DHS -- which should know better but may pretend innocence -- use govdelivery.com, probably others. We have complained to the service before without response. To see the tracking code look at the HTML code underlying the links. Clicking a link will produce a 404. This was discovered by use of an old email program. New programs tested go right to the linked file and do not disclose the tracking taking place.
To: support@govdelivery.com None of your links work from any of the government agencies you service which we have subscribed to. Please resolve the problem. Sample message below. There seems to be something wrong with the tracking code feature, which by the way is not a good feature for a government agency to have due to its privacy invasion aspect. You and the government might be sued for it since there is no discloure about it in the privacy policies of the government sites using you service. We have notifed your clients of deficient service and privacy violation.
