Kirtland AFB air-ships nuclear weapons among military bases worldwide and trans-ships nuclear weapons and materials by truck among the national nuclear laboratories and their contractors in the US. It is the home of Sandia Laboratory and the special weapons handling school.

ACTION: Notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: HHS gives notice as required by 42 CFR 83.12(e) of a decision to evaluate a petition to designate a class of employees of Hangar 481, at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be included in the Special Exposure Cohort under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000. The initial proposed definition for the class being evaluated, subject to revision as warranted by the evaluation, is as follows: Facility: Hangar 481 at Kirtland Air Force Base. Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico. Job Titles and/or Job Duties: All employees who worked at Hangar 481, at Kirtland Air Force Base. Period of Employment: March 1, 1989 through June 30, 1996.
