[--loop number extraveganza------------]
[--by da hitman------------------------]

	$Intro.$

Loop numbers can be found in all area codes and are made up primarily of
two phone numbers which are usually consectitive.

 	ex;

201-376-9929 201-376-9930

(actual working loop number in NJ)

The two numbers are connected and have a constant on hook voltage. If you called the lower number and your buddy phreak called the higher number you would be instantly connected! Sorta like a conference table.(which mah boy error explains about it in a issue of A9F4) Any way you will know if you are on one of the two is if you either hear silence or a loud tone.(100hz)This is the low number,(through dozens of tests) if you hear a low beep then you on the higher number.

 	$The Fun Begins...$

I know by know you are wondering what the hell you need a loop number for
or how to find one for if not you wouldn't be reading this txt. Having a loop
number is one of the numbero uno things a field phreak can have next to a beige/red box. It can offer even more anonymity while talking on the phone to your hack/phreak friends.

For example, you can either beige box your neighbors TNI or beige box the splice box around the corner and dial one of the numbers and talk to your waiting friend and/or red box a payphone and dial, etc. This is one of the greatest things to have if you want to talk to someone other than an at&t conference number.

You can also place charges on the loop.Say for instance you get on a conf. or maybe the operator asks where should you place the charges. Have your friend be on the loop and tell her the number. Maybe not a good idea but wtf.

It is very simple but painstakingly hard to scan for loops. One of my tricks is to enter one of your town/cities normal prefixes and then add 99xx/99xX. I got around 5 or 6 out of probably 20 attempts. I'm not too sure of the risks of scanning for loops, plus Bell hasn't mailed me anything yet so i guess its okay. Just don't be dialing all day. Do a few at a time. Just dial three or four random numbers per day and you can make up a wrong number or/me no speak no english story.

	$In the End...$

Loop numbers can be very fun and useful to anyone who wants the extra stealth when talking about upcoming projects or meetings and the such. But it also has its drawbacks like trying to find some. So i decided to put in a few loop numbers in here from a few npas around the country. Some may work and some may not. That's life, dig it.

[--The NEW Nail in the Mouthpiece Trick]
[--by Ÿberphuck------------------------]

Intro.

Hey, remember that old trick where you used to be able to stick a nail or paperclip into the mouthpiece of a payphone, touch it to the box and dial for free? Well, here's a new method for the same thing that will work on ANY phone whether it has been fixed (like most California phones, at least) or not.

Materials:

1. Metal Snipping device (Something that can cut through the cord connecting the hadnset to the phone itself)

2. Small pocketknife (or similar instrument for stripping wires)

3. Electrical tape

The Method:

Use the cutters to snip a hole in the cord connecting the handset to the phone itself. DON'T CUT THE CORD IN HALF, DUH. Just a hole so you can easily reach the RED wire. Now, expose the red wire and use the pocketknife to scrape at the wire, exposing the metal within. Now, touch the wire with the pocketknife or just let it touch the metal on the phone cord. You should hear static in the earpiece. This is where you can dial out. When you finish dialing, have your tape ready and patch up the red wire (otherwise, it's kinda hard to hear people with that static). Try to cut the initial hole close to the base of the handset, under the blue rubber thing (use the knife to slice the rubber if needed), or close to the phone itself. A big gaping hole in the cord will probably get fixed quickly.

NOTE: While doing all this, KEEP THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK. Otherwise you will get a nonlethal but very unpleasant shock. Not too fun.

What happens:

The old trick of sticking metal into the mouthpiece and touching it to metal simply grounded out the red wire or something (obviously don't know the inner workings of payfones. When that wire's grounded, the phone dials out like a regular phone without waiting for the switching machines at large to validate coin insertion... or something.

NOTE: I am usually nothing more than a blowhard... this is my best guess as to what's happening.

Possible permanent mod to the payphone: Cut the red wire in half and tape up one end (so you don't get shocked when it touches the metal cord). Not too sure what would happen. In theory, the phone would dial as if you just grounded the red wire, but this has yet to be tested.

That's all folks... hope that was insightful. I'm NOT an advocate of fucking around with the phone company for the hell of it, so don't come cryin to me if you get in trouble. I just feel this is an interesting bug in the phone company's hardware that's been around since I was at least in 4th grade...

[--magical beige cord------------------]
[--by da hitman------------------------]

	$Intro.$

The Beige Cord is a very simple device which can help aid you when mobile hacking. I am not to sure who actually invented the BeigeCord, but much props go to them for making a very useful tool.

	$Instructions$

The BeigeCord is VERY similar to a beige box. Those of you who are familiar with boxing would see the similarities. The BeigeCord is just a telephone cord(6 bucks) with a modular jack on one end, which is used to plug your modem into, and alligator clips on the other end, which you use to "tap" the lines with.Starting to see the similiarties yet? Okay, you have the telephone cord, cut off one of the mod jacks, strip the plastic to reveal the wires, wire the 2 alligator clips to the two middle wires. Wallah! You have the beige cord!!

 	$The Fun Begins...$

Alright, heres how to have some fun with your new toy. Plug the modular jack into your laptop's modem. Then open up a TNI and hook the alligator to the screws. Now you can hack safely from someone's else's phone line. Use you beigecord and hax0r from other boxes. The uses of this are unlimited.

	$In the End...$

I think the beigecord is a really nice tool for anyone who really enjoys the rush of mobile hacking, etc. Next time i'll right about hooking your laptop to a pay-phone.ooo, how k-r4d.
