The writer (name has wandered my memory) demands that software makers pay the cost to "fix" their software for use in the Y2K. In reality, nothing was wrong with computers or the software. The problem was with the media. For the past few years, I've been developing small software packages and distributing them for free. Never has something like the so called Y2K bug come up. Anyway, I just wanted to say that there's more to Y2K that meets the eye. I guess the guy who wrote the article didn't know that much about the entire situation. If he had actually studied the history of computer hardware and software, he would have realized that all signs of a "Y2K bug" had been abolished years ago before personal computers were even an idea. -Paul Lezica Maple Computer __________________________________________________________ From MacDrŸgal - afk - af - akf (Jan05 18:09): Heh damn. Electronic circuits are vulnerable to overload and a HERF gun could exploit that weakness. It shoots enough energy at least to temporarily disable its target. The HERF Gun should meet two criteria: 1) put out as much energy as possible, and 2) have some kind of directional control capability. Electromagnetic Pulse Transformer (EMP/T) Bomb: Same as HERF except 1000 times more powerful. "Toadstool cloud" may be more appropriate. In fact, mushroom clouds are not exclusive to atomic blasts. But their magnitude makes the resulting cloud larger and longer lasting than those stemming from other explosions. Atomic weapons are detonated above the ground, their explosive force projecting downward, creating a parabolic, or curved depression in the ground below. The debris from the curved hole rises straight upward initially, with the fireball from the blast ultimately deflecting it outward as it gains height. Air resistance at the top of the cloud finally flattens it, creating its familiar shape. __________________________________________________________ From MacDrŸgal - afk- afk- afk (Jan03 09:19): a nob3? Aside from being crushed by a public transit bus' door, it was a cool evening. I got on National TV (Orb might have to), and we saw fireworks that were trŽs cool. Unfortuantly, the crowds were out of hand, couldn't be controlled, and they cut the CBC transmission (was I still on national TV? I was staring right into the camera 4 feet from the reporter's back with my glasses on. ;) And, they royaly messed up on the fireworks. Apparantly, fireworks are NOT supposed to shoot directly down into the lake... I met orb by chance this evening, so that was fun. Was friggin cold. The number of drunks and crakehs was unbelievable, and Orb even resigned to sing with a drunk as a police officer looked at him with an incredulous stare... Funny. =D =D =D We were clean of illegal substances though. Of course, we're not morons like most of them. I feel pity for the bus drivers, and considered offering him a shotgun. All in all, it was a cool y2k evening. Happy New Year!!! __________________________________________________________ From MacDrŸgal the 77D-Puzzle Mac (Jan01 02:37): Bishop!!!
