Tony Taylor Memories Wed Nov 7 21:55:49 2001 Everytime I click on this site I get nostalgic for my Hawaii days. Thoughts: Tom Moffat: One of the last great gentlemen of Hawaii broadcasting. Nothing but great memories of Uncle Tom. Austin Vali: Great leader/PD. Cliff Richards: Good friend and great voice talent. I miss him. Jeff Coelho: Great salesman and GM (even though he fired me) Ed Kanoe: Bonehead Wili Moku: Best real Hawaiian friend I ever had. Dunbar Wakayama: Learned too much from him to say here. "A Bonus!" Bobby "Kamasami Kong" Zix: Still proud to say he's still a friend. Charlie Maddox: Where the hell are you? Craig Quick: Thanks for taking me to Taiwan. Alan Roycroft (sp): Grouchy old geezer who hated DJ's with a passion. Feelings were mutual. Barbara Blake: Currently in LA doing smooth Jazz and sounding great! If I left anyone out, please forgive me. I'm 49 and feeling like 69....wait, that didn't sound right! You can search for old friends/enemies by name - and do other stuff I've not explored yet - but it's fun to see both legendary, infamous and otherwise familiar names from your past and from the history of radio. Some of the info is old, because I guess people don't inform the Kaneohe-based host of career changes in a prompt fashion. Lenny Re: Memories Thu Nov 8 06:23:52 2001 Hey Tony, How about Noel Gray, Lan Roberts, Ron Wiley and Dick Barr? I CAN'T STAND THE HUMANITY Tony Taylor (taylortony@hotmail.com) Memories/Humanity Fri Nov 9 14:43:53 2001 Well, the reaction was swift and forthright. Believe this. I truly have those warm and fuzzy feelings for those days of yore. Maybe time has tempered the dark side or the result of all the worlds turmoil has rekindled the human spirit in me. As far as I know for sure, we only get one chance on this Earth and I've decided to make the best of what little time I have left. No, I'm not going to take the eternal, celestial dirt nap anytime soon. But sometimes it's better to say what you have to say and turn the microphone off. A lot of DJ's I know, myself included, could do well by taking that adage to heart. Honorable Mentions: Noel Gray: Just a real nice guy who had a big heart, talent and a damn good person to know. Ron Wiley: Great voice that drove the women wild. Wonderful Wendy: Just wonderful! Coyote: Went head-to-head with Wolfman Jack one night and he won. Great interview. Ron Jacobs: One of the few misunderstood geniuses of our time. One word: Prozac. Jim Gabert: Done more for west coast radio than most of us will ever do. A bit eccentric but who isn't. As I look back over my broadcasting career, I recall being always in search of my next mentor. For us oldtimers, it's rewarding to hear from people who we've managed to help along the way when they needed it. It still surprises me to find out that there was a person or two who were actually inspired by a particular show or bit. To have them enter broadcasting and succeed is heartwarming. If I could offer up any advice I would say this. Don't think for a second that what you say is not important. Someone, somewhere is listening. Have a great show!
