News media reports tonight that former Beatle George Harrison died after a battle with cancer.
Fox News Channel played Harrison's hit, "Here Comes the Sun" with a video backdrop of various snippets from 
Harrison's long career.
Are any local radio or television stations doing tributes this weekend? Oldies 107.9 FM would seem like a 
possible station for a tribute. Comments anyone?

My favorite Beatle.
"My Sweet Lord." Concerts for Bangledesh.
Lived in Hana I think. Rundgren owns his house there now.

There are a lot of songs that I will always remember that George wrote or sang. Tonight on the Art Bell show 
(aired locally on KHVH), Art aired an acoustic version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as he read the news 
of Harrison's passing on the air. Brought tears to my eyes... one of the nicest early tributes I heard so far.
Yes, I would think that several of our rock oriented stations and even a/c stations will have somekind of 
musical tribute to the quiet Beatle.

Stations that don't mind breaking free of their playlists for awhile can mark George Harrison's passing with 
some remarkably diverse music. (And I don't think the weekend would be too late to do it.) Harrison wrote 
"Something" (Abbey Road), "Blue Jay Way" (Magical Mystery Tour), "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (White Album), 
"For You Blue" (Let It Be), "Taxman" (Revolver), "Within You Without You" (Sgt. Pepper) and "Here Comes the 
Sun" (Abbey Road). I agree with the musicologist I heard on NPR calling All Things Must Pass (title track 
originally written for the White Album) the best solo album by any Beatle. If you haven't heard it in awhile, 
go find it. It has "My Sweet Lord," "If Not for You," "What is Life?" and "Isn't It a Pity." But "Wah-Wah" is 
my favorite song from that album...it's like proto-grunge with really thick chords. Quite a body of work for 
someone who was often regarded, including by himself, as not being in the league of Lennon and McCartney. And, 
of course, he was a kinda-sorta adoptive kama'aina, provided you weren't trying to get to the beach near his 
place! (I prefer to think that his staff made that mess. He personally seems to have been, at least to some 
extent, a regular guy.)
