August 2, 2005 My father and I got back from the Vintage Computer Festival Midwest 1.0 on Sunday. That was a fun time. The show was held at Purdue University, where my father went to school. The computer show itself was pretty good. I had attended the two VCFs in Massachusetts, but they seemed to have a low turnout in comparison and were much too long. I had my Rianbow set up and it served web pages flawlessly all day to a Linux client box. It was cool. I really didn't look too much at the other exhibits, but they all seemed pretty good too. The real fun of the trip was outside the show. My father and I stopped at the Air Force Museum on the way to Purdue. That's got to be my favorite museum. it's down in Dayton, and they have an incredible collection of planes. We drove the rest of the way to Purdue Friday. We stayed right on campus in the Purdue Memorial Union. My father showed me around campus, and we were able to find the dorm he lived in (Wiley Hall, i believe). Saturday we ate in the memorial union and went searching for the house he lived in off campus, which we were able to find after he started to remember the streets. we spent the afternoon at the computer show, but we also went to a bar, Harry's Chocolate Shop, that was actually there when he went to school! Pretty sweet! Sunday we woke up and made the trip back to Cleveland and he flew home. All in all, it was a good trip. I think we both had a lot of fun! This week I plan on relaxing a bit now that I'm not rushing to get an exhibit ready for a computer show. Just mowing the lawn and hanging out. Nice. Adios, Jeff .
