April 11, 2005 I haven't written in quite some time. This Friday i took a half a day off work to go to Notacon, a convention here in Cleveland (or was it a conference...). It was a three day event, but I only attended the first day because it just wasn't that interesting. The first talk I saw was concerning starting a company based on open-source software. The talk was actually great! I got a lot of ideas from it. The second talk i saw was horrible. I never should have attended it. I'm still not sure what it was about, and the presenter could put a child with ADD to sleep. The final two talks I saw were both pretty good. The first was about Cyberterrorism and the second was about the C64. But i felt really out of place at the con since a) I didn't know anyone, and b) I don't have a laptop with wifi. Everyone, and I mean everyone, had one, and they were all "computing" during the talks. In the excruciatingly boring talk i did end up behind a guy who kept using his laptop. But all he ever did was check e-mail. He must have looked at his inbox for at least 1.5 hrs of the 2 hr talk. What the hell was the point of that? So the con was lame. I don't think I'll go to another ever again. Adios, Jeff .
