October 7, 2005 Last month I was nothing but horrible at making entries. I'll try harder this month to keep up. I'm looking forward to the long weekend that starts in about 45 minutes. Work has been crazy boring this week. I've been itching to get out of my office all day. I don't have any plans this weekend other than a trip to my uncle-in-law's house for a BBQ. That sounds fine. For my anniversary, my wife gave me the remaining two books in Terry Brooks's High Druid of Shannara series. I've read every previous Shannara book up to these two, with the exception of the first two books in the Heritage of Shannara series. All the Shannara books have been awesome, but this new series is phenomenal. I think the two books I read of the Heritage series were awesome, and the Wishsong of Shannara book was my favorite, but this last book, Straken, is riveting. I really can't get enough. I've heard people speak poorly of the Shannara books. They're often called rip-offs of Lord of the Rings, but there is something decidedly different about them. I think it is the inclusion of the love stories that really give them a boost. If you want to learn a bit more about the Shannara series, check out: http://www.terrybrooks.net/novels/ Brooks is probably my second favorite author (Douglas Adams will always be the best). Even the two Landover books, which is an independent series he has also written, that I read were great. I've read quite a few duds in my time, so I'm always happy when I've found a set of books that I can rarely put down. Adios, Jeff .
