FIELD CAMPS AT GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT

A feature of the Baptist three year program is the second year fieldcamp of
approximately 10 days duration. All second year geography students are 
required to attend, as part of the degree requirment. Over half of our
staff members will also participate in the fieldcamp each year to guide
our students in various areas. To date fieldcamp locations have included 
Guangdong, Hainan Island, Taiwan, Northern Thailand, and Malaysia. Most 
students find this experience invaluable. 

Besides this annual fieldcamp, some of our courses also organise local and
oversea fielcamp, which form part of the course requirement. One of the
recent fieldcamp is the trip to Philippines organized by the advanced
geomorphology course. 

In addition to the fieldcamp, B,Soc.Sc.(Hons) students also participate in a 
six week summer sojourn to Beijing (Qinghua University). Visits to well-known
research institutes related to geography, and scientific excursions around 
Beijing, are organized.
