With the changes in the Academic Calendar, the Department has decided on a 
trial basis, to bring our Annual Field Camp forward to the First Semester.
The 1995-96 Camp will probably be held in early November. Experience suggests
that exposing students to field conditions and requirements somewhat earlier 
in both the BAASS and China Studies programs will prove helpful. Moreover,
the Second Semester for Geography has always been very crowded. With the
rescheduling of Field Camp it will be possible to spend more time on a 
number of important tasks and possibly, to spread mini fieldcamps and 
other field activities more evenly through the academic year.
