1. A number of "mini" fieldcamos are being organized this semester for Year III geography students. These include field study of rural poverty in central Guandong, analysis of Karst development and volcanic landforms, and the geomorphic hazards associated with the latter, and investigation of the reduction of agricultural land for industrial and industrial-related purposes in the Pearl River Delta. The camps are additional to regular Hong Kong field activities. They further underscore the importance of field study in geography programs, continue to add to the strength of our academic activities, and indeed distinguish those of the Baptist Geography Department from other Hong Kong tertiary institutions. 2. The Department's 1994-95 Annual Field Camp will be based primarily in Upland (Northern) Thailand in the period approximately from March 23rd- April 2nd, 1995. It is expected that we will be cooperating again with several Thai Government Ministries and also our University of Chiang Mai, Chulalongkhorn University and Royal Society of Thailand colleagues. .
