Downloads
Downloads can also be made from the following sites (thanks to Don Gilbert and
the IUBio archive and collaborators in France, Finland and Sweden, and
Jinchu Luo in China). These
automatically mirror the MRC-LMB site, but they may take a day or two to
update.

As of 25th February 2002 all files in the FTP area are also available by
HTTP. The links below are followed by 'ftp http' text indicating the
available download protocols. This change has been brought about due to
problems with our firewall.
For many files in our FTP area you will need the GNU gzip and the
Unix tar programs. These are standard on most Unix systems. On
Windows the winzip program can perform these tasks.
We have noticed that many downloads are failing to complete, especially with
some of the graphical FTP clients. If you have problems downloading please try
using a simple command line ftp client such as "ftp" (which exists on both
Unix and Windows platforms). An example session follows:
C:\downloads> ftp ftp.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk

These are the binaries for the operating systems we support. A licence
file has now been included with the package such so that the package
will run on any machine.
Each of the tar files also contains manuals, online
help and demonstration data. Note that the MacOS X version is based on
the X11 interface rather than Aqua, and so it needs an appropriate
Xfree86 installation to work.

Io_lib

Io_lib is a programming library for reading and writing chromatogram
files. It includes support for reading ABI, ALF, SCF, CTF and ZTR
files and support for writing SCF, CTF and ZTR
files. In addition it also contains the Experiment File reading and
writing code. Whilst not strictly a chromatogram format it contains
references to files that do contain this data and hence provides a
uniform programming interface. Source only is supplied, although it
has been tested on many Unix systems and on Windows 95/NT.
