I have played around with using BWGOR as a pseudo windows manager. In the same way in which BWGOR really isn't a "browser", neither can it be a windows manager. It can, however, manage a very clean no-decorations desktop with the help of -geometry and some thought. You will see bwm1.jpg is quite clean with: xv -root -quit max bg.jpg & in the first line of .xinitrc, xclock -digital -bg grey -gemoetry -0-0 & in the second and, xterm -class xmessage -geometry 50x2-0+0 bwgor.sh in the last line. bwm2.jpg shows it with dillo and bwm3.jpg includes some "icons" I made with xmessage sol -buttons sol -geometry 30x27+0-0 and xmessage w3c -buttons w3c -geometry 30x27+35-0 of course you have to make the click do something as in BWGOR or it just exits as default. I have also begun nesting the loops as more bookmarks and apps get requested by different users (see nestbwgor.txt) Some may wonder why I would run BWGOR without a windows manager I have come up with a few reasons why this might be wanted. 1) I think it's very clean looking. 2) For the "computer illiterate" it simply does what _you_ allow. 3) On a public box it cant be "messed with". 4) To use more as an "Internet device" 5) Uses very little resources. 6) I'm not good enough to make a real WM ;) Lets say grandma hasn't a clue but wants to do a few things online, she also does not want to spend $$ on a newer box... Or perhaps its for a youngster who likes to click but doesnt know what they are doing yet... Maybe your going to a convention and you want the box to be available to the crowd as they look at your static display of the verticle takeoff mach2 homebuilt aircraft that burns 2 gals/hr of french fry grease. Maybe you have some nice movies a few text pages and a series of images, I would assume you would want everything displayed just perfectly since your selling kits for $75 each. With this setup nothing could be changed from how you want it. Another use might be the default "family" login, where as family members walk by they can, without logging in, just make a quick click for weather or open a shared browser or email. If they want more.. click quit and login as themselves. Anyhow just some thoughts and possible uses for BWGOR or BWM as I called it in the images. Chris chris@hal3000.cx
