I've got one in my AK> laptop... she boots and says, "AMD 5x86-75 running at 133MHz". EB> If you're really running a 75MHz part at 133MHz, I'm not surprised EB> that it seems to malfunction with some regularity! If not, I'd EB> suspect BIOS and then motherboard (e.g. jumper) problems, in that EB> order. The AMD 5x86-P75 is a 4x clocked Enhanced 486, which performs at least as good as an Pentium 75 (P75 rating). While the Pentium has two integer pipe-lines and an optimized FPU, the 5x86-P75 uses the 486 core with a higher clock rate (4 x 33.3MHz). The integer part of the 5x86 performs as good as a P100, it's the FPU performance that gives the 5x86 a 'P' rate of 75. I know this cause I happen to have a 5x86-p75 running at 4 x 40MHz, and outperform many Pentium systems except on heavy FP applications (Mathematica, 3D CAD). Not bad for a $100,- CPU, eh?
