20 Jul 1974	RE: TYPEWRITER AWARD A GO operative (probably Bruce Raymond, the US GO's Operations Officer) writes to US GO National Secretary, Greg Willardson, to request a new typewriter. To bolster his case he lists all the files - many gotten illegally - which he has helped to obtain. Note the reference to "Silver" (Gerald Wolfe), the GO's agent inside the IRS.
10 Nov 1975	RE: CHINA SHOP: CLEARWATER SUN A document giving details of Operation China Shop - the attempt by Scientology to take over the Clearwater Sun newspaper, which was seen as a hostile target.
26 Nov 1975	PROGRAM LRH SECURITY, CODE NAME: POWER L. Ron Hubbard orders the GO to increase his personal security against the legal authorities in Clearwater.
Dec 1975?	POWER PROJECT 2: VATICAN PASSPORT A sub-operation enacted under the auspices of "Project Power" (Scientology's incursion into Clearwater), with the aim of immunizing Scientology "against any potential threat by taking control of the key points in the Clearwater area".

5 Dec 1975	EARLY WARNING SYSTEM The US Guardian Office is ordered to establish a network of agents in the offices of Federal and State authorities to provide advance warning of any moves against Scientology or the Hubbards.
12 Feb 1976	RE: RUMOURS The Collections Officer Flag writes to Joe Lisa, the Assistant Guardian for Information Flag, to inform him of untruthful rumours which are to be planted in the Clearwater Sun, so as to mislead Scientology's enemies in Clearwater.
29 Sep 1976	RE: DEPROGRAMMING: ARIZONA SET-UP Henning Heldt, the Deputy Guardian US, orders the Deputy Guardian for Information US, Dick Weigand, to frame the Arizona law enforcement agencies for supposedly illegally "deprogramming" someone - such as, he suggests, a GO "plant".
14 Feb 1977	RE: ARM PAC DIRECTORATE The Pacific Directorate Secretary, Sandy Cooper (also known as Sherry Hermann), writes to Dick Weigand to inform him of "ARM" ("Anti-Religious Movement", i.e. anti-Scientology) activity in the US Pacific area.
7 Apr 1977	GPO 1050 - TGT 3 PROJECT Guardian Program Order 1050 illustrates how the Guardian Office sought to use lawsuits to uncover links between those supposedly involved in the global anti-Scientology conspiracy. Note the references to British psychiatrist William Sargent.
22 Apr 1977	ORANGE JUICE Details of Operation Orange Juice, a covert operation against Florida State Representative Frank Williams.
26 Apr 1977	OP FUNNY BONE After cartoonist Jim Berry poked fun at Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard ordered the GO to destroy Berry's career.

Operations against Mayor of Clearwater, Gabriel Cazares

Cazares was the major of the Florida town of Clearwater in the mid-1970s. He had the misfortune to be mayor at the time Scientology secretly entered the town (as "United Churches") in its eventually successful attempt to create a "Land Base". Cazares was identified by the GO as a key target to be neutralised and was subjected to numerous covert operations aimed at discrediting him and preventing his re-election. The latter aim was successful.

The Guardian Office despatched agents to Gabriel Cazares' birthplace in Texas in an unsuccessful attempt to label him as an illegal immigrant.

Operation Speedy Gonzalez aimed "To ruin Mayor Gabriel Cazares' political career by spreading a scandal about his sex life broadly."

A Guardian Office agent reports on an attempt to get compromising "2D data" (sexual information) on Gabriel Cazares.

15 March 1976 RE: MAYOR CAZARES
Dick Weigand reports a successful attempt to frame Mayor Cazares for a faked "hit-and-run" accident in which the "victim" was a GO agent (Michael Meisner).

Operation Freakout - the campaign against Paulette Cooper

Cooper was (and is) a freelance journalist who in 1971 wrote a book, The Scandal of Scientology, which was highly critical of the organization. She became a key target of the GO, which aimed (on the orders of L. Ron Hubbard himself) to frame her for supposedly threatening to bomb the New York Scientology organisation and Dr. Henry Kissinger.
