Those 2 functions now allows Tor users to use in ST in an easy way. Syncthing is similar to BTSync but is open source and will sync with end-to-end encryption. ### SOCKS5 Support ### For now it is a minimal support, so you need to use CLI to set proxy prior to start ST. See ST documentation for it. You MUST use it if you are not using a gateway protection like Whonix otherwise your traffic will not be over Tor. NOTE: due to multiple clearnet announce, many users are syncing SIN files without Tor protection. ### Relay servers ### Relay servers can be used to make 2 devices communicate even when both can't accept incomming connections. This is useful when one or both devices are behind Tor or firewalled networks. ##### Instructions ##### 1) Download and install Syncthing lastest version. See syncthing.net for it 2) Run Syncthing and configure it for your needs. Default configuration will works. Remember to set proxy prior to launch if you do not have a gateway to ensure all trafic is routed by Tor. Whonix users you do not need to setup proxy. 3) Once Syncthing is runing, launch the WebGUI (usually http://127.0.0.1:8384) 4) Click "Add Device" button and fill the form: - Device ID: GDZULMR-JL32BFJ-O25Z5SC-OOFD2WH-R6XA6UR-BHRRM7P-ZXKJ7OB-H46XFAY - Device Name: SIN-Mirror - Compression: Off (use less CPU) - Check "Introducer" to share with other users whenever possible. This will reduce stress on our servers and gives you faster sync rates. This will also be useful if our servers can't be reached and some peers got updates. - Save 5) Click "Add Folder" button and fill the form for every folder you wish to sync: *** Make sure to create a unique subfolder for each share. - Library: - Folder ID: StratIntelNet-Library (Make sure it exactly as written or it won't work) - Folder Path: Set the folder where you wish to have the Library saved. - In the "Share With Devices" section check "SIN-Mirror" - Save - Atlas: - Folder ID: StratIntelNet-Atlas (Make sure it exactly as written or it won't work) - Folder Path: Set the folder where you wish to have the Atlas saved. - In the "Share With Devices" section check "SIN-Mirror" - Save 6) You are now ready to sync. Due to actual Syncthing limitation, all sync devices must be manually accepted. So be patient. Once you will be accepted, you will have the folder(s) pushed and all updates made without any efforts. 7) Add ignore patterns so system files will not be shared amongs other devices and create unwanted bandwidth usage. - Edit "StratIntelNet-*" folders - Scroll down and click "Ignore Patterns" button to add the following before you save: .~* lost+found .DS_Store Thumbs.db ._* .Spotlight-V100 .Trashes desktop.ini - If you wish not to sync certain files or folders, you can also add them there following the ignore patterns of Syncthing. 8) In case you can't connect properly we recommend that you active the "relayWithoutGlobalAnn" in the advanced settings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Troubleshooting: T: I have added multiple folder to sync but some are not syncing or files are deleted and re-downloaded. S: Chances are that you have set two or more sync folder to store files at the same path location. Create subfolders (ex: atlas/ & library/), edit the sync folders in Syncthing to point to new subfolders. Move your files, restart Syncthing. If a folder is still not syncing, please contact IronSoldier to have syncing reactivated for your node. If 2 or more sync folder are put in the same path location, the 2 sync folders are then set to "out of sync" status on our side and we override the changes. T: I deleted some files and the files are always coming back. S: For files/folders you do not wish to sync, you must ignore them into Syncthing. See step #7 to access the ignore list and add the files/folders you wish to ignore using the proper wildcard. See Syncthing docs for more details. T: I edited/moved some files and the changes are always reverted. S: Move the files you need to edit outside of Syncthing sync folder, otherwise the sync folders are then set to "out of sync" status on our side and we override the changes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For help, comments or questions about SIN's Syncthing share, contact IronSoldier (ironsoldier@riseup.net / PGP key ID: 01F772BB). ================================================================================================================================= = = =================================================================================================================================
